Linen Dress

2016

Early Italian Renaissance style dress based on a portrait by Davide Ghirlandaio ca. 1488. The gamurra was recreated in linen rather than silk. The linen gamurra, linen camicia, and silk organza partlet was constructed entirely by hand with historical sewing techniques without the use of a sewing machine. The look was completed by making a coral and pearl necklace, similar to the one in the portrait.
